Profile of work history for Stephen J. Hamilton

After high school I was drafted into the service where I spent four years in the Navy. In those four years, I spent one year in Vietnam. Following four years in the service, I spent two years at Fresno City College where I earned an AA degree. In 1971, I began my career with Merced County as an associate engineer for eight years before leaving to the City of Dos Palos to become an assistant city manager/director of public works. While in Dos Palos, I became state certified as a water treatment and wastewater plant operator. Following eight years with the City of Dos Palos, I returned to the County of Merced as the Deputy Director of Public Works where I was in charge of the Road Division and new development. I spent twenty years as the Deputy Director of Public Works before retiring in 2005 with 38 years of public service. After a brief retirement, I returned to work for Talley Oil Inc. as the Marketing/Outside Sales Manager for ten years. During my time with Talley Oil Inc., I started West Coast Materials LLC in 2008 and we are a thriving small business today.
